Mixed feelings about this.

It's not cheap at £210 for a 16GB model. Also only goes up to 32GB and costs near on £300

I got a 16GB model, nice device for what it's worth, pretty much an iphone without the calls, wireless intertet works great but obviously not being a phone there is no 3G available.

Earphones are the usual painful to use apple ipod type so i dont use them personally, the sound is good but they are just too hard and painful too use.

Applications are awesome when they work, as is the internet access but it does tend to crash like a drunk on a motorway, even the apple written apps, like safari and the itunes store app.

The screen seems very good, non scratch as i've not got a cover and been putting it in my jeans pocket all the time, although i've been careful not to put anything else in there with it, especially keys or coins. It seems to be holding up well though with only a few greasy paw prints that easily wipe off.

Negatives are the fact that a lot of applications crash on you, and it's very annoying when you are playing a game and it goes off, also the browser could be better at coping with big pages, even on here it seems slow and sometimes crashes when you are writing a message, very annoying as you can't get back to what you were typing and end up doing it all again. I'm typing this on my missus' PC BTW.

Also there is no copy and paste option on there, pisses me off when i'm on messenger and want to send someone a link.

Overall, I'd recommend getting one but maybe wait til the 32GB goes down in price or even wait for a 64GB to come out. Oh yeah and get some decent non painful phones for it.

Runs off flash memory so pretty quick and you don't have to worry about dropping it like the old ipod classic.

All said and done, my laptop is in for repair this week and i've managed to keep in touch every day with everyone using my ipod touch and not had to use this goddam shit slow pc until now as i couldn't be arsed doing admin work on my touch with the small screen and crashing. Oh yeah and this would have prob taken 20 mins instead of 10 mins to type :p

I rarely get the chance to listen to an iPod, so I've NEVER owned one. However if I do, It'll prolly be one of these.

As for earbuds, check out Shure's line. I'm told they blow my DJ 'phones out of the water!

I bought the ipod classic (80gb) ages ago, purely because there was nothing on the market with more than 8gb hard drive space at the time. My brother has an ipod touch but i personally wouldn't bother, the main reason for me is that there are no buttons. While touchscreen might be cool and futuristic how on earth are you supposed to operate it whilst its in your pocket?

If you are only going to want an mp3 player with like 8gb space I'd say you'd be better off buying a new phone which will come with that anyway. I bought the classic because otherwise is just not enough space for me, I hate having to delete stuff to fit more in.

Thought i would add to this thread.

Since OS3 for the touch things have improved somewhat.

Mainly just minor changes but things that you would expect as standard with any OS. Like copy and paste. The new OS now has a clipboard that can copy txt from one app to another which is very handy.

Also they have sorted out the touch and hold for right click menu in safari which i thought should have been there at the start and was another obvious missing feature.

Since jailbreaking as well which was a good while ago I have noticed a slightly slower performance, infact it's become more significant as time has gone on but it's worth it for the advantages of getting any app you like for fuck all.

Technobox is great by the way, i might have to make a track purely using that app for you to check out.

Jailbreaking isn't illegal but running cracked games is. It's easy to do and plenty info online about how to do it. It took me all of 5 mins to do mine.

Yeah your warrenty probably is void but if you wipe and restore your ipod and re install the original untampered OS then i can't see how they could know it had been done.

Mine's probably over 12 months old now anyway so don't care.
